Privacy Policy

This policy explains what information Icario collects, why, and the commitments we make about how it is handled. In short: we collect only what is needed to run the game, and we never sell it, never use it for advertising, and never hand it to anyone else.

Our core commitments

We make the following promises about your personal data, without exception:

  • We will never sell your data. Your information is not, and will never be, a product we offer for sale, license, or trade.
  • We will never use your data for advertising. Icario runs no ad networks and performs no ad targeting, profiling, or tracking for marketing purposes.
  • We will never transfer or make your data available to a third party. Your information stays with Icario and is used solely to operate the game for you.

Information we collect

We collect only what is necessary to create your account and run the game:

  • Account details — your username and email address. If you register with an email and password, we store your securely-hashed password; we never store or see your actual password.
  • Steam sign-in — if you choose to sign in through Steam, we receive your public SteamID and (when available) your public Steam display name, which we use to create and identify your account. We do not receive your Steam password or payment information, and Steam authentication never exposes those to us.
  • Gameplay data — the designs, battles, campaigns, and results you create while playing, so the game can function and persist your progress.
  • Session data — a login cookie and a basic browser fingerprint used to keep you signed in and protect your account from session hijacking.

How we use your information

Your information is used only to provide and maintain Icario, specifically to:

  • create, authenticate, and secure your account;
  • run battles and campaigns and save your progress;
  • send account-related email you have asked for, such as sign-up confirmation and password resets;
  • keep the service working, diagnose problems, and prevent abuse.

We do not use your information for any purpose beyond operating the game. Account email is used strictly for the messages described above.

Cookies

Icario uses only the cookies required for the site to function: a session cookie and a login cookie that keeps you signed in. We do not use advertising, analytics, or cross-site tracking cookies.

Data retention

We keep your account information for as long as your account exists. You can delete your account at any time from your account settings, which removes your account and its associated data. Battle replays are automatically pruned after a period of inactivity.

Children's privacy

Icario is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under the age required by the laws of their country.

Changes to this policy

If we ever change this policy, we will update the date above. Any future change will continue to honor the core commitments stated at the top of this page.
